We have never come across anyone who does not fancy a homemade chicken sandwich. Be it breakfast, lunchtime, or dinner, a chicken sandwich is a perfect go-to meal. Over the years, the chicken sandwich recipe has evolved so many times that the traditional recipe has been long forgotten. In this article, you will learn three different easy and quick homemade chicken sandwich recipes.
History of Chicken Sandwiches
Food critics believe that the first chicken sandwich was made in 1946 in Atlanta. Truett Cathy landed on this recipe while experimenting with a regular hamburger. He placed a boneless grilled chicken filet in a bun and called it Chick-fil-A. Since then several claims over the recipe have been made. A few years ago, the popular fast-food chain, Chick-fil-A, claimed that they had invented the recipe for the chicken sandwich in 1940. Their claim, however, was rejected because it appeared as a marketing strategy, and they had no authenticity to their claim.

Today, a lot of other food chains claim that they conceived the idea of a chicken Sandwich, but the crown is still Truett Cathy’s. Furthermore, in this tug-of-war, restaurant owners have tried to improvise the recipe of chicken sandwiches and try to bring a novelty to the traditional recipe. This tussle has resulted in variations in sandwiches.
The first chicken sandwich was prepared with a hamburger bun, but today sandwiches are made with bread loaves or pita bread. Moreover, several different flavors have been introduced, such as grilled chicken sandwiches, spicy chicken sandwiches, club sandwiches, cold sandwiches, etc. These variations bring joy to our dining table almost every day.

Spicy Chicken Sandwich Recipe
Spicy Chicken Club Sandwiches are the easiest to prepare and yummiest to have with evening tea.
Ingredients for Making Chicken Sandwich:

To make the easy club sandwiches, you will need:
- Chicken Breast: 1 (boiled and shredded)
- Eggs: 2 (boiled and cut into cubes)
- Mayonnaise: 1 1/2 cup
- Black Pepper Powder: 2 Tbsp
- Bread Loaves: 10
- Soy Sauce or Dingolay Hot Sauce: 3 Tbsp
Instructions for Making Chicken Sandwich:
Prep Time | 25 minutes |
Servings | 8 |
Clean and defat the chicken breast. Cut it into cubes and marinate it in Dingolay Gourmet Hot Sauce. Let it sit for a while. Pour water into a saucepan according to the amount of the chicken and let it boil. As the chicken tenders, turn off the flame and shred it, either with fingers or a fork.

In another saucepan, place the eggs, fill the saucepan with water as required and bring it to boil. As the water boils, note the time and let the eggs simmer for another 8 to 10 minutes because we need hard-boiled eggs for the club sandwiches.
After the said time, let the eggs cool down, then peel and dice them.
After the chicken and eggs cool down, pour the mayonnaise and black pepper powder in a bowl, mix them, and add the chicken and eggs to it. Mix the ingredients well and spread it across the bread loaves. Cut them triangular and enjoy them with Dingolay Gourmet Hot Sauces and fries.
You may also add julien-shaped capsicums, carrots or cabbage to increase the nutritious value and add a different taste.
Side Dishes with Chicken Sandwich
Chicken Sandwiches are very fulfilling, but to change them into a perfect meal, you can pair them with french fries, tater tots and mint margarita. Find our special French Fries recipe below to make the tastiest and crispiest French Fries.
Homemade French Fries
French fries are perfect for snacking and taste even better when paired with chicken sandwiches. To make the french fries, you will need:
Ingredients
- Potatoes: half kg
- Cooking Oil: to deep fry
- Salt and Black Pepper Powder: to taste
Instructions
Peel the potatoes, slice them, and then cut lengthwise. Make sure you cut them into thin sticks. If they turn out to be thickly sliced, they will not turn out to be any crispy. Put these thinly cut potato sticks in a strainer and place them under running water. Keep washing the potatoes until the water runs clear.

Take a bowl and fill it with chilled water. Soak the potato sticks in it for ten to fifteen minutes. After the said time, spread the potato sticks on an absorbent paper for about another ten minutes. This process shall help the fries turn out extra crispier.
Meanwhile, take a deep pan, pour the oil, and heat it until smoking. Before pouring a batch of potato fries, turn the heat to medium-low. This way, the French Fries will turn out crispier, and you will get your required favorite golden-ish color.
Dish out the French Fries to absorbent paper and let them soak in the extra oil. Sprinkle salt and pepper to taste. Toss the French Fries so they may spread evenly. Serve them hot with Chicken Sandwiches and Dingolay Gourmet Hot Sauce to jazz up your meal.
Storage Options for Spicy Chicken Sandwich
If you have leftover sandwiches, you can secure them in air-tight tupperware or wrap them in a cling film so they do not dry out. Then refrigerate them for up to two to three days.
If you have marinated, boiled, or fried leftover chicken, you can refrigerate and freeze them. Try to freeze the raw, marinated chicken and not the fried one. If you have marinated chicken, do not let it sit in the fridge for more than eight hours, or it may rot.
